The City Agricultural and Fishery Council (CAFC) of Davao and P4MP Paquibato District Farmers Federation Inc. jointly conducted last February 8, 2017 the 1st Jackfruit Festival held at Barangay Mabuhay, Paquibato District, Davao City.
Jackfruit (Artocarpus heterophyllus), also known as jackfruit or sometimes simply jack or jak, is a tree species in the fig, mulberry and breadfruit Family Moraceae. In her talk, Ms. Monina Maraon from SAGREX Philippines stressed that the sweet flavored, yellow-orange color and thick textured local jackfruit makes it highly competitive for export in many foreign markets. Currently, Paquibato District is exporting the famous Filipino delicacy? turon with langka? along with the jackfruit from Malaysia to other South East Asian countries.
OIC City Agriculturist, Mr. Leo Brian D. Leuterio, DA XI High Value Crops Division Coordinator, Ms. Melanie Provido, Municipal Agriculturist of Paquibato, Mr. Bienvenido Pogoy and CAFC Davao Chairperson, Mr. Allan Macasantos graced the said occasion.- Mr. Richard C. Ursua/ DCAO-FITS
